The Struggle to Connect with My Users

As I promised, this blog is a space to be vulnerable as I confess the fact that since I launched Cver AI, I have been building for myself.

Entrepreneurship is really hard, and I’ll have to say—I’m learning a lot.

I’ve been consuming a lot of content about entrepreneurship, being successful, running a software platform like mine, and succeeding at it. One thing that comes up again and again is that you should speak to your customers. But I will be very honest, I’m not the type of person who naturally wants to disturb my customers. I don’t want to burden them with messages or by reaching out. In my head, I feel like it’s intrusive, because I wouldn’t want anyone doing that to me. That mindset isn’t right. I’ve been treating all my customers as though they’re just like me, but the reality is, I’m just one in a million. The others might actually be open to being reached out to.

That was a big realization for me, and it’s something I’m working to correct. Ever since the launch, I’ve been building for myself. The basic MVP included tailoring resumes, tailoring cover letters, and suggested interview questions. After that, we launched another feature: listings of remote and sponsorship jobs. This idea came from within the team, but largely from me, if I’m being honest.

Even with our capacity to build and ship quickly, I realized we weren’t engaging the users to understand their needs. That’s when I said, “Enough is enough” As we started developing a new feature for auto-applying, I decided to do things differently this time. I reached out to all of Cver AI’s customers by sending them a survey asking for their feedback: what they think about the product, what they’d like to see in the future, and whether they feel anything is missing. I’ll attach the survey link here please do well to fill it, just in case it’s still active when you’re reading this.

So far, I’ve only received six responses. Just 6! It’s heartbreaking because I didn’t stop at emailing users—I also shared the survey on my socials, including WhatsApp and LinkedIn. Still, just six. How do I gather valuable insights when so few people respond? But I’m not giving up.

We’ll continue pushing. I plan to run one or two more campaigns to encourage participation. My goal is to reach at least 20 responses. It’s not the number I’d hoped for, but if I can get 20, we’ll work with that data to make immediate changes and improvements.

Here’s the essence of this whole rant. I’m building for myself. Everything you see on Cver AI reflects how I would want a platform to look and function for me. This is my documentation of that realization and my plan to correct things.
